HOW INCIDENT REPORTS are HANDLED: 6-Step Breakdown (Updated)

ree

Our Commitment to the Community

Your safety is our top priority, and we are committed to addressing your concerns while respecting your privacy. Transparency and community trust are equally important to us, and we aim to ensure that all reports are handled with fairness and clarity.

Here’s how we handle incident reports:

Part 1: How You can make a Report

You can create a report in two ways:

  • Report to Organizers or Teachers within the Good Vibes network: The organization handling the event will manage these reports directly. In some cases, details will be shared with Good Vibes Bachata for further review if they are within our network of partners.

  • Report to us directly: By using our reporting form (link in bio), your report will be reviewed carefully and added to our incident report list. We treat all reports with confidentiality, and your name will not be disclosed without your consent.

Part 2: How Reports Are Handled

By reporting incidents, you help us maintain a standard of conduct that ensures a positive experience for all.

  • Each report will be carefully reviewed, and appropriate actions will be taken based on the case. This includes monitoring, issuing warnings, banning individuals from events in our network, or helping individuals contact the authorities.

  • We are committed to protecting your anonymity and your safety. Your identity will not be shared outside our core team without your explicit consent.

Part 3: The Review Process

Once a report is received, the following steps will take place:

  • Step 1: If the dancer has included their details, one core team member will anonymize the report to protect their identity. Reports can also be submitted anonymously to ensure confidentiality.

  • Step 2: Two unbiased team members will assess the anonymized report, assigning a severity score and proposing actions like monitoring, issuing a warning, enacting a ban, or contacting authorities.

Part 4: The "Traffic-Light" System

We operate a "traffic-light" system to assess the severity of incidents:

  • 🟨 Yellow Alert: If this is the first or second complaint, we will record the incident and monitor the dancer’s behavior going forward.

  • 🔸 Orange Alert: For multiple complaints or a single severe incident, we may issue a warning or temporarily ban the dancer.

  • 🔴 Red Alert: If the incident is too serious for us to manage or presents a high risk of danger to the individual, we will advise you to contact the police. This process is not a substitute for legal action, and we strongly encourage you to reach out to the authorities if needed.

Part 5: Notification and Response

In the case of a warning or a proposed ban, the following actions will be taken taken:

  • Organizers within our “Good Vibes” network will be informed that a dancer has violated our community principles and advised of our proposed action.

  • The dancer in question will receive a notice explaining the action taken. While we may not always disclose specific details due to privacy and safety concerns, the dancer will have the opportunity to present their case.

Part 6: Enforcement and Your Rights

As part of the enforcement process for bans:

  • Organizers have the legal right to refuse entry to anyone who poses a credible safety risk. Under UK law, particularly the breach of peace guidelines, organizers can ask anyone to leave if they are considered a threat to the safety of others.

  • Events associated with Good Vibes Bachata follow a clear Code of Conduct. If someone breaches this Code of Conduct and creates a safety concern, organizers have the right to refuse entry or take action against that individual. All decisions to enforce bans are made after a careful review process, ensuring fairness and objectivity. This Code helps ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, and the review process gives organizers confidence that the actions taken are based on a thorough evaluation.

Our Goal:

Our goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all dancers in our community. Your reports are vital to upholding these values and ensuring the well-being of everyone involved. We also aim to support organizers in keeping the community safe and enhancing the dance culture in our scene.

Don’t hesitate to speak up—we are here to support you.

(Disclaimer: This process does not replace legal proceedings. If you feel a crime has been committed, please contact local authorities.)
